The Nicolet lighthouse did not withstand the ice and the flood of the waters. Built in 1907 on Lake Saint-Pierre at the mouth of the Nicolet River (Quebec, Canada), it has been guarding the river's waters for more than a century. Her silhouette, familiar to the locals, could be seen from the walkway of the Anse-du-Port ecomaritime park. but yesterday nature decided otherwise

Just now, as I finished my work day, I felt the urge to go and see with my own eyes what was left. 3:30 AM drive on a Tuesday night. If you still doubt that I love lighthouses...

Symbol of the community, it appeared on postcards and was recorded in the collective memory. On the spot, several people had gathered, attracted by the news. Some have asked me questions, trying to understand, hanging on to the memories. Others just kept quiet.

Ironically the sunset was beautiful.
